Use a Tesla electric car power your home

The panacea for all motoring problems, especially those concerned with emissions and energy efficiency, has long been the perfect subject for speculation. Countless solutions have been paraded as the best option for the rapidly diminishing oil reserves, but they are not without issues. Natural gas has emerged as one of the feasible interim solutions to the looming fuel shortage along with solar energy. However, the pressure to reduce greenhouse gasses is still as high.

Hybrid vehicles are slowly using Controller Integration, though most technologies are still under investigation. The latest trend is the plug-in variety, which combines the goodness of an electric car with an engine reserve. The hydrogen car is also among the options, although it still has a long way to go before it can be fully accepted as a feasible option in the vehicle industry.

Solar power is also slowly carving a niche in the vehicle industry. These solar-powered vehicles use photovoltaic cells to help in conversions of sunlight to energy.  The energy is stored in batteries and drawn-out power the vehicle as needed. Their design and operations are dependent on getting enough solar energy to adequately power the vehicle’s systems.

The perfect dream car

People’s love affair with the idea of the perfect car has grown stronger over the years. A personal car has, for the longest time, been synonymous with individuality, freedom ideal, and a reflection of a person’s tastes and preferences in addition to comfort and safety. Therefore, more people are buying cars yet looking for the best when it comes to fuel efficiency and low emission of greenhouse gasses. This only increases the demand for greener energy.

What comprises a greener energy source?

The concept of green energy has been used for a long time. But what makes any alternative fuel qualify as a green source of energy? Well, some factors of consideration include:

Reduced pollutants emissions in an effort to protect the environment and human health

Reduced emissions of greenhouse gasses, carbon dioxide, and other harmful oxides

Sustainable and renewable energy sources as opposed to finite sources

Readily degradable, renewable an recyclable materials

Solar Energy in Motoring

Like any other gadget, solar-powered vehicles harness the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity. The electric energy then runs the vehicle’s motor. Some vehicles use batteries while others direct the electric energy to the motor without passing through the battery.  These vehicles have photovoltaic cells that help with the conversion.

Over the years, solar technology has been perfected and is now in use in various vehicle models across the country. Some of the manufacturers who have embraced this technology include Toyota, Ford, Nissan, and Honda.

Electricity powered vehicles

Electric cars are among the most popular options today as giant motor companies such as Tesla embrace the technology. Electric cars are fast, produce zero emissions and are super quiet. The system features rechargeable batteries that power the car’s motor. The number of lithium batteries in a car depends on its design and preferred output.

This technology is one of the fastest rising options and has been embraced by manufacturers of Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Hyundai, among several others. Most of these manufacturers do not have an all-electric car; hybrids are the in-thing. A hybrid is an electric car with an engine reserve. Today, you can find countless hybrid cars on the road.

LPG in Motoring

Liquid (or Liquefied) Petroleum Gas, commonly known as LPG, has been named one of the most convenient alternative fuels. Not only is it easy on the pocket, but LPG also cuts your expenses on road taxes and it is easy on the environment too.

If you have a regular car, you can easily convert it to an LPG one. You will need the services of experienced professionals to help you with the conversion. Although it costs you a one-time amount for the conversion, the savings you make at the pump will help you recover the costs in no time!

The best thing about LPG is that you can easily get filling stations ass more suppliers rise to the occasion. Since it is possible to convert any vehicle into an LPG, you need not worry about whether it will work.

Go green or go home

For the last years, there has been a constant increase in environmental awareness. People started to realize that what we are doing affects the world around us and, sadly, we are damaging our environment with many of our activities. The Earth is our only home, so if we destroy it, we will have nowhere to go. We need Earth to be safe and sound and it is in our hands to make it so -or not-.

People started to look for new ways of doing things, that did not affect the environment in such a negative way. A lot of scientific research focuses on how to reduce the impact of our activities on the ground, the air, the water, and wildlife and in the home, such as installing an energy wall for energy storage. Two of the main environmental problems today are pollution and the exploitation of natural resources to produce energy. Both of these issues are strongly related to our means of transportation.

Our vehicles have engines that consume energy to work and usually produce pollution that they release into the environment. Our cars are a perfect example of that. They consume fuel -usually gasoline- that is a nonrenewable natural resource and, therefore, one day we will run out of it. At the same time, their engines produce exhaust gas that pollutes the air and is unhealthy to breathe.

We can’t just get rid of our cars, we need them as a mean of transportation. What should we do, then, to reduce the negative impact of their use in our environment? A good idea is to use eco-friendly cars that use alternative sources of energy and create less to no pollution. Let’s check on a couple of examples.

Solar-powered cars

These cars are frontier technologies with the dream of eco-friendly transportation. They produce no pollution and consume no fuel. They use a completely renewable energy source that doesn’t even need an industrial process like gasoline does. How do they work?

These cars use solar panels to transform direct sunlight into electricity. This energy is either used for the engine or stored in a battery for later. This seems wonderful; however, there is a huge problem with solar-powered cars. Scientists haven’t been able to come up with a model that properly balances energy supply, energy consumption, and production costs.

Costs depend on direct sunlight, so they can’t work if it’s cloudy or dark. These cars usually have a battery that stores energy, but still, they can’t run for long. Besides, in order to run longer, they should consume less energy, so they should be very light, and a battery is usually heavy. You can’t just solve this problem by plugging in a huge battery because the car would need even more energy to carry all that weight. On top of that, the special, light materials used to make these cars and the solar panels themselves are very expensive. This wouldn’t be a car that is on the reach of anyone’s pocket.

By now, the only solar-powered car that has worked is a golf cart. These vehicles don’t spend much energy because they run for short distances -from one hole to another- and carry few people inside; so, the little energy that they gather from sunlight is enough for them to work.

Solar-powered cars are a great possibility for eco-friendly vehicles, but for now, they are not practical. Perhaps in the future, new systems and materials will ve invented, and these vehicles will be a reality. For now, they are just prototypes.

In conclusion

There is a wide interest in renewable energy becuase global population will increase; from hybrids to solar, electric and hydrogen-powered cars. The innovations radicalize the motoring industry as alternative safer and sustainable energy sources are sought. The global market has also placed a lot of demand for manufacturers to come up with innovative solutions to environmental issues.
